Additive 2024 | 12.-14.06.2024 | Bremen
7. June 2024
ALTER | HTV at Additive 2024 in the Conference Center of the ATLANTIC Hotel Universum Bremen
ALTER | HTV participated with a poster presentation on “Quality assurance of additively manufactured components” on June 12, 2024, at 2:55 pm, on site in Bremen. The hybrid symposium also took place simultaneously in Berlin and online.
Dr.-Ing. Thorsten Leist informed about the following content:
The possibilities of additive manufacturing have continued to grow in recent years and now cover almost the entire material spectrum of series production. Almost all shapes can be produced that would either not be possible at all or only at enormous cost using conventional processes. With the increasing spread of 3D printing technology, it is also finding its way into new markets ranging from automotive to aerospace engineering. Quality assurance measures are becoming increasingly important and must be taken into account accordingly. The medical sector in particular, but also the automotive, aerospace and defense industries are known for their strict quality assurance processes. This includes the constant monitoring and improvement of quality-relevant parameters. With 3D printing processes, it is sometimes difficult to implement standard quality inspection methods such as metallographic sections or tensile tests due to the high cost per part. In the event of damage, a precise analysis is often the right way to improve product reliability or to gain a better understanding of the failure mechanism in order to avoid the cause of damage in the future. HTV Conservation GmbH will present various options for quality assurance of 3D-printed components. It will be shown how the processes in 3D printing can be monitored and how product quality can be comprehensively documented and tracked. Various strategies and analysis methods will be presented and their potential and practical benefits discussed.
